I love living on this gorgeous island of Oahu. While we are here enjoying the warm weather and gorgeous beaches, I see people on the mainland starting to pull out their fall and winter clothes. Though I miss watching the leaves fall and watching my daughter and pups play in the leaves, I still pick the beach over the coming cold weather any day. Seeing the oceans waves crash against the sand, the calmness it brings to mind. Watching my daughter's play in the sand and water. It's truly memorable.
This past weekend we went to Ewa Beach. The waves were a little rough but the weather was perfect and sunny. I watched my daughters play in the sand and try to build stuff, or for my youngest daughter Isa, try to eat it. Just relaxing after a long week of making jewelry, updating my shop, housekeeping, and getting caught up. It was really well needed.
One of my favorite things to do while at the beach is go for a nice long walk and look for treasures. This time I went on my own and it gave me time to think and just clear my mind. I found several pieces of sea glass and a few sea shells. The tide was a little high so it was a little hard to gather much. Constantly fighting with the waves to try to snatch a piece before the wave takes it away. I must say I found a few gems though. One of them being this gorgeous piece of aquamarine coke bottle piece of sea glass. I literally fought with the wave to snatch this one. I just had to have it. This one little gem is a keeper and is going straight to my little collection.
One of my other favorite find of the day was this huge and gorgeous puka shell. This wave came in and I just saw this shell rolling back into the water. I immediately ran to grab it to see what it was. At first I thought it was a little wheel or a toy until I picked it up. I think I was like a little girl with the biggest smile on her face and full of excitement. Shortly after this I rushed back to my handsome husband to show him my beach finds. I am always so excited about all the different things that I find that I always have to share it with him. I'm glad he likes to see what I find as well. There's times that we both go beach combing and have our own little bags so that when we get home we compare them to see who found the most rarest or unique piece. He says he always wins but I think it always ends up in a tie. We always find some unique pieces and end up treasuring them in our glass vases in the living room.
Even though I am going to miss the fall and a true winter I am glad that my little family is enjoying an awesome island life in paradise. I never thought that in a million years I would end up coming to Hawaii, less to live at Hawaii. We are truly lucky to live the HIlife and be able to have such a hardworking soldier as our husband and father.
