Owning a Rapid Hammock can come with tons of new adventures which also mean running through the mud, climbing mountains, climbing trees, looking for an awesome spot to hang your hammock at to chill which also means getting dirty. Now that you're home from your trip it's time to clean your gear. This includes your Rapid Hammock. Here's the way that I like to clean my hammock to make sure it's always clean and will last me many years to come.
There's two ways I personally like to use to clean my hammock.
1. Hand-washing your hammock.
I like to use regular stain removing spray such as Oxi Clean or Tide. I will first spray the areas that have stains on them and let it sit for a good 3-5 minutes. I will then just spot clean the hammock with regular laundry detergent. I like use Gain or Myers cause it helps keep the colors bright and beautiful. I do NOT use bleach at any time on my hammock. I will then take a bucket and put the hammock in it. I will put some of the same laundry detergent in it and fill it up with water. Let it sit for a little bit and then start scrubbing it clean. I would do this on camping trips or long periods of time away from a washer and dryer. After washing I would then strain to get as much excess water out and then hang to dry. You can use the same straps on the hammock to hang to dry.
2. Washing your hammock in the washer.
I would do the same spot treatment on the stains but the only difference is that instead of putting it in the bucket and hand washing it I would put it in the wash. Definitely saves more time and energy. I usually wait to get home to wash my hammock at home rather then outdoors. I recommend using the delicate setting to wash your hammock in the washing machine vs the regular or heavy setting. Once the hammock is done washing, I would then hang to dry. I don't recommend putting in the dryer to dry as this may rip, fade or even slightly deteriorate. I like to hang and air dry to make sure my hammock lasts as long as possible. They are durable fabric but I rather play it safe. :)
Vegan options for washing your hammock. I like to use detergents from Meyers. They work wonders and they smell absolutely amazing. Each Myers detergent has essential oils in it keeping your home and clothes smelling amazing.
