You know that moment when you lay on the sand and close your eyes. Just go into this deep meditation phase where all you hear is the ocean waves and the wind as everyone's voice starts fading away into a whisper. You take a moment and you let go of all of the worries of the day or even of your week. Ain't that moment amazing? That's exactly how it feels when you give all of your worries and problems to God. He takes your burden just so you can feel free without asking for anything in return besides your love.
Sea oats. It's one of the many beautiful things you see at the beach. I didn't really know what the true job of sea oats was till I read today's devotional. Sea oats help keep the sand in place with it's roots during storms and high tides. How cool is that?! Well today's devotional talks about how God is like sea oats. How He is always there for us to ground us and hold on to us during the storm. Sometimes life feels like it will only get worse but if you just give everything to Him, He will hold you through the storm and ground you till the sun (better days) come to shine.
Today's devotional speaks about a final rinse. We all know how us women can be when it comes to rinsing off at the showers before getting sand all inside the car. I know I make both my girls and my husband rinse off and I make sure they do. The last thing I want is to clean sand. It gets everywhere but no matter how hard I clean and make sure no sand makes it's way to the car or the house, it still happens. Well God is like our final rinse. Here's how...
Metal Detectors. When I first saw the title for yesterday's devotion I was a little confused. Like how can metal detectors even compare to anything in life. Well I was wrong. It has everything to do with my current life situation. There's many people that go to the beach with metal detectors in hopes of finding rare treasure and unique pieces of value or full of history. I love beach combing and looking for rare pieces of sea glass or perfect pieces of seashells. It's just a good thrill and such an amazement every time you pick up a piece that's so unique and colorful. Pictured above are two seashells that I found and absolutely adore. They're perfect. Not a single scratch and polished to perfection. There's also a gorgeous aqua piece of sea glass that I turned into a gold dipped necklace. But these pieces of mermaid treasures don't compare to the gift of eternal life that Jesus has waiting for us. Here's how metal detectors compare to my current life situation.
Driftwood. I absolutely love driftwood and it's one of the many beach treasures that I collect when beach combing. I love making sea glass mobiles with them out of organic materials to decorate my home as well as others (click here to get your own). After today I will never see driftwood the same. I will see it as a learning journey in my life. Driftwood is pieces of wood that are thrown by men or nature out to the sea and they are tumbled to a smooth finish such as the one pictured above. Other pieces never make it back to shore and disintegrate out in the ocean. Let's take a closer look at our day in this devotion.
I have recently hit a point in my life where I have realized that nothing will get better without putting everything in your life in God's hands. I have struggled with this fight for a very long time and it's been a roller coaster ride for me as well as my family but after the last few months of constant tears, sadness, struggles... I have decided that it's time to change. I'm not a saint or perfect in any ways. I still sin on a daily basis but I know that if I keep taking one step at a time I will get to where I want to be spiritually with the help of my family, myself, and most of all God.
