A beautiful day such as today, where the sky is bright and sunny, full of life ad not too hot... is the kind of day where if I was living back in Hawaii I would grab my girls, some snacks, our Hydroflasks filled with ice cold water, my Ergo, my GoPro, and gone on a beautiful hike. Now hiking with littles ones is not easy so sometimes choosing a hike that is good for the kids can be a little challenging. Here is a list of my top five favorite hikes to do with my little girls that have either beautiful views or gorgeous waterfalls.
I was so excited to move to Hawaii back in 2014, new place and paradise, but when I actually sat down and thought about the trip I didn't realize that it will be 10 plus hours of flying, driving, and layovers of trips to just go see our family or even move back to the mainland. Going to Hawaii or leaving Hawaii my flight has always been about 10 hours. Yes an almost 10 hour flight from Honolulu, Hawaii to Atlanta, Georgia. I did this trip several times and each time it got easier but that's cause I learned what to do to make my trip more pleasant and relaxed with my two little girls (Bella 4 years old and Isa 1 year old). Here's how I managed to make our last trip 10 times easier and more pleasant.
Shaved Ice! Yumm!!! One of my daughter's favorite treats from Hawai'i. It never failed. Every time we would go up to Hale'iwa in North Shore of Oahu, Hawaii, my daughter Bella would beg us to take her here. During our time in Hawaii we went to several places to eat shaved ice but nothing compared to Matsumoto. They are AMAZING! Whether you get just a regular shaved ice one or one with ice cream, you will never regret it and always come back for more. It's definitely worth the wait and the long line.
Anyone that has been to Hawaii knows the Aloha vibe that Hawaiian natives give off to those who visit their island. They keep such great care of their islands and the oceans around them. All locals till this day practice their native culture and traditions but most of us guests don't know what they are or have had the privilege to experience how beautiful it really is. Everything from their dances to their dresses and even the way they are and how they came to be the Aloha people that they are today. I'm the kind of person that loves to learn about other cultures, languages, traditions, etc. so I like to experience it first hand. There's nothing like learning about a culture out of a book, magazine, or an episode on the History or Discovery channel. If you're like me that likes to explore the world and those we share it with I recommend to go to the Polynesian Culture Center on the island of Oahu, Hawaii.
There's nothing better then a beach day with my family. The smiles, the giggles, the sand, the tanning sessions and even small and crazy swimming lessons. It's all worth it. I love going to the beach with my family and I'm sure everyone else can relate. I mean it is the beach. Who doesn't like the beach? A beach day with those you love the most. How much better can it get?
The Ehukai Pillbox hike is a fun one and full of gorgeous views. The walk up was amazing but the return trip turned out to be a little longer than expected. We accidentally took a wrong on our way back but it was definitely worth it so don't let this post fool you. We had a very exciting day and I will do it all over again if I could. Here's all the Do's and Don't's for this hike. Just a few key pointers and things I learned on my time there and how to get prepared for this gorgeous hike.
Oahu is filled with beauty and treasures for the wanderlust at heart. I had the chance to find the upper Makua Cave and hike it with my cousin Brittney. The reason why so many places remain hidden is because its more fun to go find it on your own with those who are big adventure seekers as well than to give things away easy for others to find. Its like going on a little treasure seeking adventure. Trust me its worth the wanderlust, climbing, hiking, gorgeous views, and most of all... the memories that will last forever!
Last Sunday, my husband and I had the amazing opportunity to go to the Aloha Stadium in Honolulu, Hawaii and get to watch the Pro Bowl of 2016. It was such an amazing experience and one of my favorite dates besides the spa day at Aulani Resort. It was fun watching all the different teams and fans come together in one stadium and play football. It is definitely not the same as watching it on TV. Let me tell you about my experience and how to get ready for the next ProBowl event.
If you are looking for an easy hike to do with your children that has absolutely gorgeous views all around then this is the hike for you. It is a paved hike, with a lighthouse, and several resting spots. There's four different paths but the paved one is very stroller friendly and perfect for taking all those young ones with you. The views are amazing the whole way up with several resting/view points. Here's what you will need to enjoy every minute of your experience here.
Why You Should Take Your Children To Disney's Character Breakfast In Aulani Resort - Kapolei, Hawaii
If you love to try new foods and are a huge Disney fan then you should make reservations to eat at Aulani while you're here on Oahu, Hawaii. We've made it a little tradition to take our little girls to eat breakfast here at Aulani for their birthdays. They absolutely love it. The music, the food, and of course the characters. Though my youngest didn't care to be no where near them, my oldest, Bella, wouldn't eat just to be with them.
