On September 20th, 2017, Hurricane Maria came roaring through the Caribbean islands causing death, destruction, horror, floods, and leaving islands in total darkness without any communication. One of those islands is my home of Puerto Rico. As we know it... La isla del encanto. Before the hurricane even arrived, I had already lost total communication with my loved ones. Last I heard from my abuela was Tuesday morning and from my little brother Tuesday night. The hurricane made landfall through Yabucoa on Wednesday morning leaving the entire country speechless with it's aftermath.
*Disclaimer found below.*
Before the hurricane arrived there was already destruction from Hurricane Irma and even floods from the rain from Hurricane Maria. One river flooded a whole Barrio. Tuesday afternoon the governor of Puerto Rico told Trump that the island was destroyed. 100% off the island was in total darkness forcing them to set curfew and tell locals to seek higher ground as the rain continues to pour down causing even more flooding and destruction.
Here I am sitting in a parking lot before going in to work looking for ways to help my family and those living and affected by this awful tragedy. I know I am not the only one desperate to seek communication with those we love. With family and friends. Anyone! I have decided to set up this post to make it easier for otherd to help our island. Theres many ways to help those on the islands and even the neighboring islands. Listed below are a few links where you can donate too and help First Responders, Red Cross and other organizations get the proper items needed to help those in need of help and medical attention, food, water, clothes, and even a shelter. Together we can make a difference. We have two options. Stand together and help or live our lives like there is no chaos going on in our world. Even if your help is for the wildfires on the North West USA, or for Texas and Louisiana after Harvey hit, or the earthquakes in Mexico that have wiped out cities, or even Florida and the Caribbean islands after Hurricane Irma and Maria. Whatever it is. I just urge you to help, make a donation, go through your home, gather supplies, donate money. Any little bit helps guys. Even $5 can buy one or two people a meal or give maybe 20 people some water. It's not till you lose it all when you realize how much the simple things really help you live each day. Please I urge you to help!!!
